You're the Best Thing to Ever Happen to Me

Madalyn & Jack's Wedding at The Empress in Addison

"She's the best thing that's ever happened to me. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her." Those words from Jack set the tone for Madalyn and Jack's wedding film. Their celebration was romantic, sophisticated, and full of beautiful locations, from the architecture of the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii in Chicago to their reception at The Empress in Addison.

But beyond the elegant settings, what really stood out was how much fun the two of them seemed to be having. Between the laughter, cheering, and excitement from their wedding party, Madalyn and Jack brought an energy to the day that made the film feel both timeless and genuinely personal.

A Beautiful Beginning in Chicago

Madalyn and Jack began their wedding day separately, with Madalyn getting ready at her family home and Jack preparing alongside his groomsmen at a hotel in Chicago.

Both locations brought something different to the morning. The family home offered a beautiful, personal setting for Madalyn and her bridesmaids, while the hotel's striking interior architecture made for some especially interesting footage of Jack and the guys.

One of the sweetest details from the morning was that both sides of the wedding party had their own first looks. It was a fun way to capture everyone's reactions before the ceremony, especially with a wedding party that clearly wasn't afraid to celebrate.

A Timeless Ceremony at the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii

The ceremony took place at the beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii in Chicago.

With its light stone architecture and traditional church interior, the shrine was an incredible setting for Madalyn and Jack's ceremony. There is something about historic churches that gives a wedding film a sense of timelessness, and this location was no exception.

The ceremony itself was filled with thoughtful words and meaningful vows. Those moments helped bring a more emotional side to a wedding that otherwise had so much laughter and excitement.

Hearing the couple express their love for each other against such a beautiful backdrop made the ceremony one of the most memorable parts of their film.

Wedding Portraits at Arrigo Park

Following the ceremony, we headed to Arrigo Park in Chicago for portraits with Madalyn, Jack, and their wedding party.

The park provided a beautiful change of scenery from the church, bringing greenery and an open outdoor setting into the film. Working alongside Rachael Watson Photography, we captured the couple and their wedding party enjoying some time together before heading to the reception.

These moments also brought out the more playful side of the day. Between everyone cheering, laughing, and the groomsmen even tossing Jack into the air, there was no shortage of energy.

An Elegant Reception at The Empress in Addison

The celebration continued at The Empress in Addison, where Madalyn and Jack joined their guests for the reception.

The excitement carried right into their entrance, which set an energetic tone for the rest of the evening. The Cannoli Boys were also part of the celebration, adding another memorable element to the reception.

The speeches were another highlight of the film. Much like the vows earlier in the day, the words shared during the reception felt thoughtful and personal.

These are often some of my favorite moments to incorporate into a wedding film. They give us an opportunity to tell a story beyond the visuals and let the people closest to the couple help express what makes their relationship special.

As the evening continued, Mike from Fantastic DJs kept the celebration moving, with an energetic dance floor and lighting that looked fantastic on camera.

The event decor from Beautifully Different Designs complemented the sophisticated atmosphere of the celebration, helping bring the reception together.

Between the beautiful setting, lively guests, and all the excitement surrounding Madalyn and Jack, it felt like a fitting way to close out their wedding day.
